History

CUSP Primary History is carefully designed to help every pupil succeed by building knowledge that lasts. The curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced so that learning is revisited and strengthened over time, giving pupils the best possible chance to retain and apply what they have learned. Key historical concepts—such as power, community and trade—are woven throughout the programme, allowing children to deepen their understanding with each encounter.

A strong focus on vocabulary ensures pupils can confidently explain their thinking and engage with complex ideas, while clearly mapped progression supports teachers in knowing exactly what pupils should know and be able to do at every stage. From Early Years through to Key Stage 2, CUSP History provides a coherent journey that builds firm foundations for future success in secondary education.

Each unit is driven by purposeful learning questions that give clarity and direction, helping pupils connect knowledge and develop as young historians. Alongside rich subject knowledge, children also gain disciplinary skills—analysing evidence, understanding cause and consequence, and exploring historical perspectives.

The result is a curriculum that not only supports excellent teaching but also nurtures confident, curious learners who can think critically, make connections, and understand the world around them.
